What Are Missions?
Missions begins with the gospel and looks at the work that God is doing in history by making disciples and multiplying churches among all nations.
Missions is the task of proclaiming the gospel to every people group that has not yet heard it, in order to establish churches—churches that will carry on the mission by reaching their culture, teaching others, and sending missionaries out.
Missions is the action performed by various tasks that cross cultural, linguistic, socio-economic, and geographical boundaries through the proclamation of the Gospel, to produce gospel-driven, disciple-making followers and churches of Jesus Christ.
Missions exists because worship doesn’t.
Why Are Missions Important?
- Jesus was all about telling others the good news of the Kingdom of Heaven, and we are all about doing what Jesus was doing.
- Jesus tells us to, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
- Jesus also said, “And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.”
- 40% of the world’s population does not have access to the gospel.
